Lori J Bernstein, PhD, CPsych

Dr. Bernstein received her PhD in Psychology from Columbia University in New York City and is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist in Ontario. Prior to joining University of Toronto in 2006, she worked at several hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area, including Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Credit Valley Hospital.
 
Dr. Bernstein works at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in the Department of Supportive Care, where she is a clinician investigator in the Cancer Rehabilitation and Survivorship Program. Dr. Bernstein is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto (primary appointment). She is also an Associate (restricted) Graduate Faculty member in the Graduate Department of Kinesiology at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Bernstein’s clinical practice includes neuropsychological assessment and individual and group psycho-educational interventions designed to teach patients self-management skills to better cope with cognitive dysfunction during and following cancer diagnosis and treatment. Her research focuses on better understanding and characterizing the cognitive changes that cancer and/or its treatment has on people, both in the short and long term, and ways to help improve functioning, and developing care models and resources to support people with cancer-related cognitive symptoms.
