Research interests: CKD and ESKD outcomes, with a focus on patient function and transitions, cardiovascular and vascular access innovations.

Research methodology interests:

1. Randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs)
   • design, application and analysis (particularly multicentre RCTs) 
2. Medical informatics and technology

• design, creation and utilization of patient-level and large administrative databases for health services research
• use of medical informatics to inform and support prospective studies and innovative technology

Charmaine Lok is a Professor of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and Senior Scientist at the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute. She is also associated with the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University. Dr. Lok is the Medical Director of both the Chronic Kidney Diseases and Hemodialysis Vascular Access Programs at the Toronto General Hospital.
