The Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research named TGHRI Director and Senior Scientist Dr. Mansoor Husain as its inaugural Executive Director.

Dr. Husain will help guide the Centre’s world-class research program, which seeks to develop new diagnoses, treatments and tools to prevent and manage heart failure. “Mansoor holds a special vision for how we can truly improve cardiovascular health and brings decades of clinical and investigative insight to the role,” said Vivek Goel, Chair of the President’s Steering Committee for the Centre and Vice President of Research and Innovation at the University of Toronto. “Out of a global search, he emerged from an outstanding field of candidates as uniquely positioned to lead the Centre in bringing together the wide range of experts along University Avenue to uncover new therapies and make a real difference in patient lives.”

His research program at TGHRI explores the molecular mechanisms of heart disease (hypertension, atherosclerosis and heart failure), including the role of inflammation, and the development of new approaches in regenerative medicine.

Dr. Husain also serves as a Scientist for the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine and is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
