Dr. Kara Patterson receives award from the Ontario Physiotherapy Association.

TRI Scientist Dr. Kara Patterson is the 2017 recipient of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association’s (OPA) Innovation and Advancement Award. The award recognizes members of the association who are leaders within the field of physiotherapy and who have advanced the profession by innovating approaches in clinical practice, research, technology and education.
 
As a researcher at UHN, Dr. Patterson has been focused on advancing neurorehabilitation practice and improving mobility in individuals living with neurological conditions such as stroke. Her work is currently exploring walking and stroke-related impairments using a variety of clinical, behavioural and neurophysiological measures. Her research is also examining the link between rhythm and gait, and the potential for using dance to improve mobility in individuals who have suffered a stroke.
 
Dr. Patterson will receive the award this coming April at OPA’s annual InterACTION conference.
