Research Interests
Our group is committed to evaluating and improving long-term patient and family caregiver outcomes after critical illness. To date, our research group's interests have included a study on the 5-year outcomes after the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), one-year outcomes in survivors of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and long-stay, ventilated critically ill patients and their family caregivers. We are currently leading a 4-year multi-centre CIHR funded study " Towards RECOVER" which will evaluate patient and caregiver outcomes to 2 years after prolonged mechanical ventilation and will help to inform a future family-centred rehabilitation program after severe critical illness.
