TRI Senior Scientist Dr. Dina Brooks was awarded an International Service Award for research from the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT). The award honours individuals who have made a significant contribution to the field of physical therapy research.

Dr. Brooks’ research advances cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation. A key focus of her research program is to assess the impacts of physical activity and adjunct therapies on quality of life, particularly in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and stroke. She holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Rehabilitation for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and is a Scientist at West Park Healthcare Centre.
 
Dr. Brooks was nominated by the International Confederation of Cardiorespiratory Physical Therapists and was presented the award this past April at the 2015 WCPT Congress in Singapore.
