Dr. Joanne Bargman receives prestigious award from the National Kidney Foundation.

TGHRI Clinical Researcher Dr. Joanne Bargman was named one of three recipients of the 2016 International Distinguished Medal from the National Kidney Foundation. The award was created to honour “the achievement of individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of kidney disease”. The award also celebrates her clinical contributions at UHN, where she is Director of Peritoneal Dialysis.
 
Dr. Bargman’s findings have provided new insights within a wide range of research areas, including peritoneal dialysis, glomerulonephritis and management of systemic lupus erythematosus. Her other achievements include over 200 peer-reviewed publications; more than 650 international lectures; co-authorship of the "Chronic Kidney Disease" chapter in Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine, 17-19th Editions; various teaching awards; and the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award in Peritoneal Dialysis from the Annual Dialyses Conference.
