Dr. Gary Rodin was recently awarded the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) Bernard Fox Award during the 2017 World Congress of Psycho-Oncology.

The award honours a researcher who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of psycho-oncology—a field that goes beyond traditional cancer studies by integrating the social, lifestyle and psychological aspects of the disease.

Dr. Gary Rodin’s research program is focused on the development of new methods to assess the impact of terminal diseases on patients and affected family members, as well as the creation of new psychotherapeutic interventions to enhance end-of-life care and to help those with acute leukemia or metastatic cancer.

He is a Senior Scientist at the Princess Margaret (PM) Cancer Centre. He is also a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and holds the Harold and Shirley Lederman Chair in Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care. Dr. Rodin is well known for pioneering the world renowned, fully integrated PM program of Supportive Care including Psychosocial Oncology, Palliative Care, and Survivorship Programs.

IPOS will present the award to Dr. Rodin at the World Congress, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, on 14-18th August, 2017. Congratulations Dr. Rodin!
