Dr. Gordon Keller, Director of the McEwen Stem Cell Institute and Senior Scientist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, has been honoured with the prestigious 2023 Till & McCulloch Award today at the 2023 Till & McCulloch Meetings (TMM) in Toronto.

This award recognizes Canadian researchers who make outstanding contributions to global stem cell research. In Dr. Keller's case, his research in heart development and stem cell–derived heart cell subtypes holds immense promise for revolutionizing cardiac therapies.

Dr. Keller's seminal work, featured in the paper titled "Modeling human multi-lineage heart field development with pluripotent stem cells" published in Cell Stem Cell, delves deep into the complexities of human heart development. By leveraging innovative techniques, Dr. Keller's research has unlocked the potential to generate various heart cell types essential for testing cutting-edge cardiac therapies.

Dr. Keller received the award surrounded by some of the best scientists, clinicians, bioengineers, and ethicists in stem cell and regenerative medicine, as well as representatives from industry, government, health, and non-profit sectors from Canada and abroad.
