Follow UHN Researchers on Twitter

Posted On: November 14, 2014
Online communities such as Twitter serve as an interactive form of non-traditional media by enabling rapid and open communication between colleagues, patients, the general public and other stakeholders.

Many UHN leaders and researchers have Twitter accounts, including the incoming UHN CEO, Dr. Peter Pisters, who comments "I use it as another news and information channel and as a way that I can reach out to the UHN community to share news and information on UHN". Dr. Christopher Paige, the UHN VP, Research, has recently started an account. “Twitter allows an individual to connect with the entire spectrum of people at UHN and beyond. I use it to share relevant research news and events.”

Dr. Brian Hodges, UHN's VP of Education also has an account. "For me the value of Twitter is to engage colleagues interested in health professions education. I share resources. I crowd source information. I post new and interesting publications by colleagues. I highlight interesting conferences, talks and experiences in education."

Because social media is often unmoderated, accountability for the responsible usage of the technologies rests upon individuals. For more information on the proper use of social media, see UHN’s social media guidelines.
