Krembil Affiliate Scientist Dr. Nigil Haroon recently received the 2016 Young Investigator Award from the Canadian Rheumatology Association (CRA).
The award recognizes a young Canadian investigator and CRA member that "has performed outstanding, landmark, original research (clinical or basic science) in rheumatology as judged by peers and citations."
With 57 peer-reviewed publications that have garnered over 850 citations, Dr. Haroon has made important contributions within the field of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). His research has provided insight into the immune mechanisms and factors that control AS progression and, most recently, revealed that those with AS are at increased risk of developing vascular diseases.
