Bio Research Interests Publications

My work focuses on valvular heart disease, using echocardiography (heart ultrasound) to better understand, assess, and monitor these conditions. In parallel, I develop and apply artificial intelligence to echocardiographic imaging to enhance diagnostic precision and support more informed clinical decision-making.




Dr. Wendy Tsang is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a Cardiologist and Clinician-Investigator at the Toronto General Hospital where she leads a Complex Valve Disease Clinic. She holds the Melanie Munk Chair in Advanced Echocardiography and is Chair of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada Area of Focused Competency subcommittee in Adult Echocardiography. She is also an Associate Editor at the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography. She was a member of the writing groups for the American Society of Echocardiography 2012 3D Guidelines, the 2015 Chamber Quantification Guidelines and the 2023 Prosthetic Valve Guidelines and is Co-chairing the Update to the Chamber Quantification Guidelines. Her research focuses on valvular heart disease, 3D echocardiography, and artificial intelligence in echocardiography.
