Daniel C Cattran, MD, FRCPC

My research is focused on kidney disease, specifically the area of primary glomerulonephritis. There are a number of variants within this disease category but overall, these types of kidney disease remains one of the leading causes of end-stage renal disease. We have been primarily focused on preventing progression of these disorders to end-stage kidney disease in order to avoid the need for dialysis and/or kidney transplantation. Specifically our focus has been on the natural history of these disorders, the risk factors involved in their progression and how to predict outcome. We also study the impact of these chronic diseases on patients and investigate treatments to ameliorate this impact and slow or prevent kidney disease progression.
