On October 6, 2014, representatives from the Techna Institute were invited to present to parliamentarians in Ottawa at the Research Canada Health Research Caucus kiosk event on medical device technologies.
Medical device technologies, which range from simple thermometers to sophisticated diagnostic imaging equipment, represent one of the world’s fastest growing economic sectors. Health care cannot be delivered without medical devices; with Canada’s aging population the demand for innovative medical devices is going to increase.

Techna was one of eight groups invited to present to parliamentarians on Parliament Hill in Ottawa at the event. At the kiosk event, Techna presented its unique technology development model, using the radiofrequency ablation and integral quality monitoring projects as examples of featured technologies. The large infrastructure projects at UHN, such as the magnetic resonance guided radiation therapy suite (MRgRT), also generated interest in the discussions
