Our research group is currently focused on the psychosocial problems of individuals and families facing advanced and terminal cancer.

We are conducting longitudinal research intended to identify predictors of depression and demoralization in this population and are exploring the relationship between disease burden and psychological well being.

We are employing both qualitative and quantitative approaches to evaluate the experience of illness and to identify potential targets for therapeutic intervention. We are also developing new methods to assess quality of life, pain and psychological disturbances in individuals with advanced and terminal disease and the impact of these conditions on spouses and children.

Research in development is focused on evaluating the benefit, cost-effectiveness and ethical implications of multidisciplinary interventions to relieve psychological distress, control pain and to improve quality of life in patients with metastatic and terminal cancer.
