
Dr. Divya Sharma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at York University. She also holds appointments as a Scientist at the University Health Network and an Assistant Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. Her research centers on developing artificial intelligence and machine learning methods for precision medicine, with a strong emphasis on explainability and clinical integration.
Dr. Sharma’s interdisciplinary work spans liver transplantation, cancer, mental health, and musculoskeletal disease. She collaborates with clinicians across leading institutions such as Toronto General Hospital, the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and the Schroeder Arthritis Institute to build AI tools that are trustworthy, equitable, and ready for deployment in real-world healthcare settings. She is especially committed to addressing representation disparities in biomedical datasets and promoting health equity through data-driven innovation.
