
Dr. Steele studies a problem called dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) – what causes it and how to treat it. She focuses on helping people who lose the ability to swallow; something most of us do without thinking. She studies how foods and drinks move through the throat, has helped to develop global standards for food and drink textures for people with swallowing difficulty, and tests treatments to see if they work and enable people to eat and drink normally again.
