PM Cancer Centre's Dr. Mary Gospodarowicz is the 2016 recipient of the O. Harold Warwick Prize from the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS). Through a Canada-wide nomination process, the CCS selected Dr. Gospodarowicz as the candidate with the most outstanding achievements in applied cancer control research.

The first radiation oncologist to be bestowed with this honour, Dr. Gospodarowicz's research focuses on radiation therapy for various cancers, including genitourinary, prostate, bladder, testicular and blood cancers. Her findings have helped shape radiation medicine and clinical practices around the world.

The award is one of the four most prestigious given by the CCS and will contribute $20,000 towards Dr. Gospodarowicz's research program. It will be added to Dr. Gospodarowicz's long list of distinctions, which most recently include the American Society for Radiation Oncology's Gold Medal (the Society's highest honour), the 2013 Janeway Medal from the American Radium Society, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the European Society for Radiotherapy & Oncology.
