McEwen Centre Researcher and TGHRI Senior Scientist Dr. Ren-Ke Li was recently appointed a Fellow of the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences (IACS). The distinction is bestowed to researchers who have made scientific contributions that have the potential to be translated into improved diagnoses and therapies for cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Li’s research explores the use of stem cells to repair injured heart tissue or restore heart function. His findings have helped to identify cell types and therapies with the most potential therapeutic benefit. These studies have laid the groundwork for clinical trials and have led to Dr. Li’s recent partnership with Ontario-based company, CReATe Inc., which aims to develop cell-based therapies to repair damaged heart tissue. Congratulations Dr. Li!
