Andrzej Chruscinski

The focus of my research program is on ways to detect and induce transplantation tolerance. This is a state where the immune system accepts the transplanted organ without the need for immunosuppression. We are currently working on two clinical trials in transplantation tolerance: LITMUS and ASCOTT. In the LITMUS trial, we are investigating if a novel gene biomarker panel can identify spontaneous tolerance in liver transplant recipients. In the ASCOTT trial, we are investigating if autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation can induce transplantation tolerance. My laboratory is also investigating basic mechanisms of tolerance using a heart transplant model in mice.
