How do you make sure that you have all the control and flexibility that you are looking for in a messageboard for a community that is burdened with the responsibilty of confidentiality? The RIS answer is simple: You build it yourself.
Messageboard v2.0 is where elegance and style meet speed and control. With a countless amount of public and private forums, the Messageboard has become both a social and professional cornerstone of our Research Community.
Administrative users have the ability offering restricted access to research-related forums or to open up to the public for themes such as announcements or team-building events within the University Health Network. Built on an Oracle database, this is the fastest Messageboard that UHN has ever produced.
Look around without committment. The messageboard's varying and numerous public forums are available for viewing before one logs in, making it possible to take on some quick browsing before logging in to write a response. This makes it easy for researchers to view important UHN-wide announcements as quickly as possible with no-strings-attached access to vital information.
Researchers are quickly able to determine whether or not they have read the latest postings in any forum by the easily understood key icons.
Topics for each forum are listed in order of the latest updated topics. Of topics that should remain on top, there are caution icons, notifiying researchers that those topics contain important information.
At a moment's glance, one can see everything going on in the forum, keeping all authorized users up to date and ready to contribute.
Everyone has something to contribute. With Messageboard 2, researchers are free to contribute and to be heard. Users have the ability to post messages with controlled tags in a word processor-like mannor, choosing from a plethora of options such as font face, colour, size and decoration. Users may also post links and upload research pictures and documents.
Keep track of your readers. Administrators have full control over those who are authorized to view their forums. This makes the messageboard work for all of the research groups of UHN, since all groups can use Messageboard 2 for their own purposes and for their eyes only.
