Machine Shop

The machine shop is fully equipped to design and build medical devices or modify existing equipment. Located at Princess Margaret, the shop charges for services at a very competitive rate compared to outside facilities. The facility is supervised by Matthew Filleti.
Services
  • Manufacturing by: computer controlled machining, conventional machining, 3D printing, sheet metal and welding
  • Design by: Solidworks and Mastercam. Virtually any design software can be accommodated
Unique Capacities
3D printer in house, available for same day prints.
Available Equipment
  • Computer numerical controlled (CNC) milling and lathe
  • Conventional machine shop tools
  • 3D Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printer from Stratasys
  • Tungsten inert gas (TIG), metal inert gas (MIG) and ARC welding
  • Sheet metal tools
  • Solidworks CAD software
Using the Facility
  • Open to academic and external users.
  • Shop staff can work to the researcher’s specifications, or can carry out all the required engineering
  • Quotes can be provided
  • All projects will be charged to an approved functional cost centre
