Research Interests

Dr. Gucciardi's research program focuses on the use and delivery of diabetes self-management education (DSME), diabetes self-care practices, and the integration and coordination of diabetes resources and management services across the health care system. Her overall research objective is to make a valuable contribution to the area of health communication by improving knowledge and skill transfer to patients in clinical practice in the area of DSME. In doing so, her research can empower individuals, families and communities to lead healthier lives. Dr. Gucciardi's adopts a multidisciplinary approach that examines personal and contextual factors that influence the day-to-day lives of individuals. She uses various research methodologies such as advanced quantitative, creative qualitative, and mixed-methods techniques in her research.
