My research program primarily centers around developing new treatments for serious eating disorders, and exploring some of the underlying genetic factors that may contribute to their development. Two current projects include a trial of a new technique, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for bingeing and vomiting, and a genetic study examining a mutation in a cholesterol gene that is associated with anorexia nervosa. The first study may allow for individual-level prediction of response to TMS treatment and the second, to personalize food plans for those recovering from anorexia nervosa.
