Gail's Fun Run

“Running to Make Ovarian Cancer a Memory”

Katherine Crooks has found a unique and gallant way to honour the memory of her mother, Gail Morrison, who passed away from ovarian sarcoma in 1998.

For the past five years Katherine has been holding a 5/10K event to raise funds in support of ovarian cancer research. Gail’s Fun Run is held each year at Kennisis Lake, Haliburton, which this year falls on Sunday, August 31, 2008. Participants can choose to complete either the 5K or 10K race, via walking, running or cycling.  The object of the race isn’t to “compete” but is more of an opportunity to make people aware of the disease and to fund research to improve the understanding and treatment of ovarian cancer.

Gail’s Fun Run starts and finishes on south Shore Road, and the meeting point is directly behind the Kennisis Lake Store.  Participants are asked to arrive at 9:30 a.m., although the race officially begins at 10:00. Participation is free; however, a minimum donation of $20.00 is appreciated. Any donation over $15.00 will receive a charitable tax receipt from the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

For further information about the race you can either contact Katherine directly at: run4gail@rogers.com or by calling: (289) 231-5317.
