Comprising some 2,500 sq.ft. of laboratories, built in 1995, the Biophotonics Facility offers a range of equipment and trained scientific/technical staff. R&D with outside users may be of various forms: joint collaborative projects, long- or short-term contract research or fee-for-service. The facility includes:
  • laser labs
  • dedicated confocal microscopy lab
  • flexible-layout optics lab
  • animal operating suite
  • tissue handling and analysis lab
  • tissue culture/in vitro photobiology lab
  • optical instrumentation lab
There is access to a full-scale vivarium, electronics lab and machine shop, as well as a full range of standard biomedical research facilities, on a fee-for-service basis.

The scientific staff can assist in the scientific/technical design and execution of R&D projects, as well as in pre-clinical and clinical evaluation of novel optical applications in diagnostic or therapeutic medicine. This support can be provided to industry users and to academic laboratory and clinical researchers.
