Macrophage phagocytosis of erythrocytes. F-actin was stained with rhodamine-phalloidin (pseudo-coloured red) and erythrocytes were opsonized with IgG to induce Fc-medated phagocytosis and stained with Cy5-anti-IgG (pseudo-coloured blue). Z-projections of the confocal z-series were combined with a DIC-transmitted image. Note that F-actin relocates to the point of phagocytosis. Sample provided by J. Jonstra-Bilen (TWRI).
